Sept. 2013-webVenture Connectors has named Amy Higgs as its manager of communications and administration. Under the leadership of the board of directors, Higgs will execute all membership, marketing, public relations and social media functions for the nonprofit business organization. She will also coordinate and manage all Venture Connectors events. Higgs was selected by the board from a pool of outstanding applicants during a thorough RFP process, conducted earlier this year.

Previously, Venture Connectors contracted with multiple entities for its administrative, website and marketing functions. The board voted to combine these roles into one comprehensive management position to better ensure continuity of operations and maximize resources.

“We are excited to have Amy join us as manager and as the ‘face’ of Venture Connectors,” said Suzanne Bergmeister, board chair and entrepreneur-in-residence at the University of Louisville. “Because our board is made up entirely of volunteers, we rely heavily on our manager to ensure the customer experience for our members, guests and sponsors is first rate. We’re confident that Amy will be instrumental in streamlining our processes, raising our visibility and furthering our mission to be recognized as the preeminent organization of entrepreneurial and investment activity in the region.”

An entrepreneur herself, Higgs provides a full range of freelance writing and publicity representation services through her consulting business, Write Is Might Louisville LLC, founded in 2012. Higgs began her career with Business First in 1998 as project manager and editor. In 2007, she joined Cedar Lake Foundation as associate director of communications and development. She worked as public relations manager for University of Louisville Physicians just prior to launching her own business. Higgs earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Louisville and a master’s degree in communication from Bellarmine University.

“I’m excited to work with the dynamic Venture Connectors board, its members and strategic partners,” said Higgs. “This role will give me a chance to exercise all of my core business strengths, as well as connect with the thriving entrepreneurial community on a deeper level.”

Venture Connectors’ luncheon meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the meeting runs from noon-1:15 p.m. Registration is required at: ventureconnectors.org.
